MEF announces winners of 2011 Service Provider awards
Metro Ethernet Forum
MEF
November 17th, Los Angeles: The
winners of the prestigious MEF (Metro Ethernet Forum) Carrier Ethernet
North American Service Provider Awards were announced at a Gala Dinner
held in conjunction with MEF’ participation at the recent Light
Reading Ethernet Expo in New York.
The 2011 awards include five specific categories – to encourage the
widest range of entrants, regardless of size or footprint. The judging
panel for the North American awards comprised leading industry
analysts: Erin Dunne, Vertical Systems Group;
Stan Hubbard, Heavy Reading; Nav Chander, IDC; Michael Howard,
Infonetics Research and Roopa Shree, Frost & Sullivan.
“Best Business Ethernet Service” encompasses retail and enterprise
services with an emphasis on innovation combined with real business
benefits. The judges’ criteria include service portfolio, customer
base, value added features – SLAs, portal, CoS and bandwidth
granularity – together with case study examples. From the finalists
AT&T, TW Telecom and Verizon Business, AT&T was announced as the
winner.
Speaking at the conclusion of the award
ceremony, Nan Chen, MEF President, commented: “The number and quality
of award submissions is a reflection of the accelerating importance of
Ethernet services to today’s service provider product portfolios, in a
global business service market on target to reach $44.3B by 2015,
according to data from Vertical Systems Group.”
