APAC and Global -
MEF announces winners of 2011 Service Provider awards
Metro Ethernet Forum
MEF
Los Angeles, December 12th 2011: The winners of the
prestigious MEF (Metro Ethernet Forum) Carrier Ethernet Service
Provider Awards for the APAC and Global regions were announced
recently at a gala dinner in Sentosa, Singapore – held in conjunction
with the MEF’s participation at Carrier Ethernet APAC Congress.
The 2011 awards include five specific categories – to encourage the
widest range of entrants, regardless of size or footprint.
The judging panel for the APAC awards comprised
leading industry analysts: Rosemary Cochran, Vertical Systems Group;
Camille Mendler, Informa; Tim Dillon, IDC; Jayesh Easwaramony, Frost &
Sullivan and Matt Walker, Ovum.
“Best Business Ethernet Service” encompasses retail and enterprise
services, taking into account the customer base, value proposition,
value added features and case study support. This year’s APAC winner
was Tata Communications, from fellow finalists SingTel and Verizon
Business.
“Best Wholesale Ethernet Service” includes applications for mobile
backhaul, data center and provider interconnects for the provisioning
of managed point-to-point Ethernet services to their clients as well
as overall contribution to Ethernet ubiquity.
This year’s winner was Telekom Malaysia with other finalists being
named as PCCW Global and Tata Communications.
“Best Marketing”, as in previous years, recognizes the value in
spreading the word about the many benefits of Carrier Ethernet. The
judges were looking at the campaign’s goals and objectives, how it
differentiated the services and the results gained. Philippine’s based
PLDT’s “We’re changing lives” campaign took the honours, with SingTel
and Tata Communications close behind.
The APAC Service Provider of the Year is awarded on the basis of the
cumulative score from the above 3 categories plus ratings for factors
such as coverage, partnerships / interconnects and access technologies.
This year’s winner was Tata Communications, ahead of SingTel and
Verizon.
