Vertical Systems Group:
Mid-2010 Global Provider Ethernet LEADERBOARD
Award
recognizes top providers
of Ethernet
network services to multinational enterprises.
BOSTON,
MA, AUGUST 30, 2010 --
Six companies achieved a position on Vertical Systems Group's
Mid-2010 Global Provider Leaderboard for Business Ethernet, based on results
of the firm's latest research. The top global providers and their
respective home countries in rank order by port share are as follows:
Orange (France), Colt (U.K.), Verizon (U.S.), AT&T (U.S.), NTT
(Japan), and Tata Communications (India). Global Provider share
measures retail Business Ethernet ports installed at enterprise
customer sites outside of the provider's primary home country.
Providers cited on the Mid-2010 Global Provider Leaderboard each hold four
percent or more of market ports as of mid-year 2010.
"Demand for global Business Ethernet services was solid in the
first six months of 2010. Market activity was characterized by
more widespread use of copper-based Ethernet solutions for pan European
networks, as well as by expanded delivery of inter-country
private lines in Asia," said Rick Malone, principal
at Vertical Systems Group. "Boosted by an uptick in the number
of new global providers and interconnect relationships, Ethernet services are now able to
link multinational enterprise sites in up to six
continents."
Key results of Vertical's Mid-2010 Global Provider Ethernet analysis:
-
Projected double-digit port growth
rates remain on target for 2010 across all regional
Ethernet services markets.
-
Verizon had the largest port share gain
among providers listed on the Global Provider Leaderboard for
the first half of 2010.
-
Tata Communications joined the Global
Provider Leaderboard for the first time.
-
All global providers rely on bilateral
network-to-network (NNI) agreements to deliver services to
multinational customers; some are also participating in Ethernet Exchanges.
Other companies delivering Ethernet services and analyzed in the
study include Airtel, Altitude Telecom, BT Global
Services, Cable & Wireless, China Telecom, China Unicom, Cogent,
Completel, Easynet, Exponential-e, Global Crossing, Interoute, KDDI,
KPN International, KVH Telecom, Masergy, PCCW Global, Qwest,
Reliance Globalcom, Sanef Telecom, SIN, SingTel, SoftBank Telecom,
StarHub, Swisscom, Telecom Italia, Telefonica, Thus, T-Systems,
Virgin Media Business, Vodafone Business and other service
