Rick Malone
Principal & Co-Founder

Mr. Malone is a Principal of Vertical Systems Group, responsible for managing the firm's Market Research and Analysis practice.  In this capacity, he coordinates all research resources and directs the utilization of Vertical's proprietary databases and market models.

He co-founded the firm in 1986 to deliver market research to the networking industry based on his "real world" expertise.  Mr. Malone consults to clients on market opportunity, segmentation and sizing, technology trends and business strategy.  Cited as one of 25 "Unsung Heroes" of the Internet by Inter@ctive Week, he is recognized by the media as an authoritative source for networking statistics.

With more than 25 years of business applications and networking experience, Mr. Malone's background is in marketing, statistics and technical management.  He previously participated in the start-up of a venture-funded company, and held management positions at Tymnet and Rapidata.
