Ethernet Services: Enabling Business-Critical
Applications
(February 2008)
Enterprise
customers are relying on Ethernet to support “business-critical”
networking applications, and providers like AboveNet are responding
with service features to ensure network reliability, performance,
security and end-to-end application management.
SPONSORS: Ciena, AboveNet
PodProfiles:
AboveNet
-- Rajiv Datta, SVP and CTO, discusses the company's Ethernet Service
offerings, service differentiators, and real world benefits for
AboveNet customers..
Ciena -- Joc Jacquay, SVP Sales & Marketing, talks about how Ciena's
solutions address the business-critical requirements of AboveNet’s
enterprise customer base.
Ethernet Solutions for Cell Backhaul Applications
(January 2008)
Cellular traffic
backhaul is a critical, but costly, operational expense for mobile
operators. Today’s cell backhaul infrastructure, which relies
heavily on T1/T3 links, is straining to support a surge in mobile
subscribers. Additionally, operators must expand their current
backhaul capacities to support new bandwidth-intensive 3G
applications like EV-DO, plus accommodate future 4G services. Real
world Ethernet technology solutions are handing the challenges of
next generation cellular networks, including requirements to boost
backhaul bandwidth and reduce OPEX.
SPONSORS: ADVA Optical, Ceragon Networks, Ciena
PodProfiles:
Time Warner Telecom
-- Mike Rouleau, Time Warner Telecom’s SVP of Business Development
discusses how TWTC is successfully deploying ADVA’s products to
address backhaul capacity and OAM issues
for its wireless operator customers.
Ceragon
Networks -- Aviv Ronai, Chief Marketing Officer, details how Ceragon is
targeting emerging IP/Ethernet-based wireless backhaul
opportunities.
Ciena
-- Mitch Auster, Sr. Director of Solutions Marketing, presents how Ciena is ramping up its Ethernet product portfolio to
meet emerging wireless backhaul requirements.
Ethernet over Copper: Filling the Fiber
Gap
(December, 2007)
The majority of
today’s Business Ethernet revenue is generated from enterprise
customers located in fiber-connected buildings using 10 Mbps or
higher speed services. However, fiber reaches few U.S. business
sites, and the vast majority of SMB sites are not fiber-fed.
Alternative access solutions filling this “Fiber Gap” include
deployments of Ethernet over T1, Ethernet over Copper, and other
technologies.
SPONSORS: Ciena,
Overture Networks
PodProfiles:
Time Warner Telecom
-- Mike Rouleau, Time Warner Telecom’s SVP of Business Development, discusses how TWTC is successfully deploying Overture’s products to
expand their Ethernet service footprint and offer a broader range of
lower speed Ethernet offerings.
Ciena
-- John Marston, Ciena’s VP of Product and Segment Marketing, defines the opportunity to extend Ethernet services via existing copper
and explains how Ciena’s new series of Ethernet platforms can
accommodate both fiber and copper-based Ethernet deployments.
