2015 U.S. Cable MSO Ethernet LEADERBOARD

Cable MSO segment grows faster than the Incumbent Carrier and Competitive Provider segments for third year in a row

BOSTON, MA, MARCH 9, 2016 – Time Warner Cable, Comcast, Cox, Charter, Lightpath and Bright House are the top Cable MSOs selling Carrier Ethernet services in the U.S., according to Vertical Systems Group’s latest research. These companies have attained a rank on Vertical’s 2015 U.S. Cable MSO Ethernet LEADERBOARD based on billable U.S. retail port share for the cable operator segment as of year-end 2015.

Each of these six companies has also achieved either a LEADERBOARD rank or a Challenge Tier citation on the 2015 U.S. Carrier Ethernet LEADERBOARD. Cable MSO is one of three U.S. provider segments, along with the Incumbent Carrier and Competitive Provider segments.

“Cable MSO is the fastest growing LEADERBOARD segment for the third year in a row. During 2015, Cable MSOs focused on selling Ethernet Private Line and Dedicated Internet Access services in a very competitive U.S. market,” said Rick Malone, principal at Vertical Systems Group. “MSOs have been strategically expanding their Ethernet service footprints through fiber build-outs and partnerships in order to compete up market for larger U.S. network opportunities. In 2016, expect market share realignment due to the anticipated approval of Charter’s bid for both Time Warner Cable and Bright House.”

Other companies in the Cable MSO segment include the following (in alphabetical order): Consolidated Communications, RCN Business, Suddenlink (Altice), WOW!Business and other cable companies selling retail U.S. Ethernet services.
