2012 U.S. Cable MSO Business Ethernet LEADERBOARD

Cox, Time Warner Cable, Charter, Lightpath, and Comcast achieve top rankings on new Cable MSO Leaderboard.

BOSTON, MA, FEBRUARY 22, 2013 —
The top Cable MSOs selling business Ethernet services in the U.S. are as follows (in rank order based on port share): Cox, Time Warner Cable, Charter, Lightpath (formerly Optimum Lightpath), and Comcast, according to Vertical Systems Group’s latest research. As a result, these five companies have achieved positions on Vertical’s 2012 U.S. Cable MSO Ethernet Leaderboard, a new benchmark for measuring Ethernet market presence based on billable ports delivered by cable operators.

“Business Ethernet services are a strategic and growing revenue source for Cable MSOs. We’re seeing more aggressive marketing as the cable operators step up their efforts against the incumbent carriers and CLECs within their respective service territories,” said Rick Malone, principal at Vertical Systems Group. “Cox and Time Warner Cable have consistently held positions on Vertical’s U.S. Leaderboard, and continue to expand their Ethernet businesses. However, Comcast currently has the fastest port growth of the providers on the 2012 Cable MSO Ethernet Leaderboard.”

Each company ranked on the 2012 U.S. Cable MSO Ethernet Leaderboard has achieved either a Leaderboard rank or a Challenge Tier citation on the 2012 U.S. Business Ethernet Leaderboard.
